Community rules

Last updated: [DATE]

Unmonkey is a place to roast coding practices. The Old Dev is a cartoon villain, not a real person. These rules keep the jokes about the practice and the people safe.

1. The golden rule

Roast practices, never real people. Make fun of webpack configs, tabs vs spaces, copy-pasted Stack Overflow answers and Friday deploys. Do not make fun of a real person you can identify: a named developer, a coworker, a boss, a streamer, or a company's staff.

2. What is not allowed

3. Quotes and counter-quotes

Keep them short, funny and about the practice. Old Dev counter-quotes follow the same rules: the Old Dev can be grumpy, but never cruel to real people.

4. Comments

Roast in the comments, but argue with the idea, not the person. No pile-ons.

5. Confessions

Confessions are anonymous stories from converted devs about their old sins.

6. Roast my stack

Your roast is private until you share it. If you share it, you are the one publishing it, so these rules apply to the shared card too. Use the roast on your own setup, not to target someone else.

7. How moderation works

8. Play fair

One person, one account. No bots, no vote trading, no exploiting bugs. Vibe from the community decides rank and the tournament; money does not.

9. Report a problem

Use the report button in the app, or write to [CONTACT EMAIL].
